adjective

  1. (of something regarded as unpleasant) continuing without pause or interruption.
  2. A kick ass punk album by Meat Wave whose honesty hurts your heart and head in the best way.

Meat Wave’s The Incessant hurts in the way only honesty can. Signed to Side One Dummy Records, the Chicago trio is made up of Chris Sutter (vocals/guitar), Ryan Wizniak (drums) and Joe Gac (bass). Their style certainty brings about a loyal punk scene following, but this album is much more than just punk. It’s safe to say it’s not for the weak of heart, but that’s the point. Titling an album The Incessant is pretty self explanatory in regards to what listeners can expect. However, if you are open to dark melodic chaos with Laura Jane Grace-esque vocals then you have stumbled upon the right boys.

Meat Wave have successfully smashed all their talent and skill into a post punk experimental album. The complete album is hard to listen to in one sitting unless you’re in the mood for it, but proves to be purgative if you can make it through. You can’t help but feel everything was masterfully put in its rightful place and it even seems to have some pretty fierce political undertones.

Whatever you do, don’t skip over “Bad Man” and “Birdland”.
