Hot Mulligan and the Impact Of The Wonder Years

Fan Experiences in the Formative Years

We recorded our first EP with Mat Kerekes of Citizen. Their album Youth was the first album Tades and I found and liked together when I was still in high school, so it was pretty cool to make that EP with him just a few months later.
Aside from that, it was awesome to play with Knuckle Puck on this spring tour we just wrapped up. I’ve been listening to them for a few years, so it was neat to have the opportunity to open for them every night.

The Wonder Years’ The Upsides was a big one for me. A lot of the lyrics from that album aligned with how I was feeling at the time I got into it, or at least that’s how I felt. I was too young to really feel a lot of it, but some of the concepts really resonated with me and I love listening to that record still. If anything, it’s more relatable today.

Being a fan

It is cool to be a diehard music fan! I don’t know why anyone should feel embarrassed by it. I saw The Wonder Years and Real Friends on The Greatest Generation tour my senior year of high school. Dan Lambton from Real Friends was walking around outside beforehand, so I asked him to take a picture. I’m pretty sure it’s still on my instagram somewhere. I guess that’s not really embarrassing, but we’re friends now so it’s kind of funny to look back on.
